I am relatively new to Anime, and (despite my actual list) my tastes range from the classic DBZ (im old) to my new favorite Spice and Wolf (season 3 please!). Kokoro Connect is a perfect example of this concept. However, this does not mean that certain shows are objectively good or bad, it sometimes means that a show is an excellent version of whatever style or genre it is supposed to be. In the world of anime and manga this leads many to disregard shows that simply don't fit the criteria of what we find entertaining. With the massive rise in access to entertainment and media/pop culture, we have gotten to the point where our options on what to watch are so stratified that we have the privilege of not liking something because its not our particular taste. The anime uses locations in Yokohama as reference, with cooperation from the Yokohama Film Commission and the Yokohama Gakuen high school.ĭisclaimer- this review takes into account the 4 episode 'sequel' to the show BackgroundThe cast from the Kokoro Connect drama CD reprised their roles in the anime. Now forced to become closer than ever, they soon discover each other's hidden secrets and emotional scars, which could end up tearing the StuCS and their friendship apart. As this supernatural phenomenon continues to occur randomly amongst the five friends, they begin to realize that it is not just fun and games. One day, Aoki and Yui experience a strange incident when, without warning, they switch bodies for a short period of time. The club consists of: Taichi Yaegashi, a hardcore wrestling fan Iori Nagase, an indecisive optimist Himeko Inaba, a calm computer genius Yui Kiriyama, a petite karate practitioner and Yoshifumi Aoki, the class clown. Synopsis When five students at Yamaboshi Academy realize that there are no clubs where they fit in, they band together to form the Student Cultural Society, or 'StuCS' for short. Or maybe the editing in the TL was bad, also possible. I literally do not remember ANYthing except the premise of the first book. I come to this site and turns out I'd already read up to somewhere in the 3rd novel. And I'm thinking oh hey, I should read/watch kokoro connect, I remember the premise of the first book and it did kinda interest me even if it didn't feel original. Reasons why I stopped reading were the tl and that I couldn't help but constantly compare it to Utsuro no Hako which is simply better.ĮDIT: So, 6 years later, and I'm getting back into the japan manga/anime/ln scene. Especially the sides, thoughts and feelings that they usually desperately try to keep hidden. Every book has the same group of friends have some phenomenom thrust upon them that forcefully makes them understand each other better and have to grow to accept another facet of their friends' characters. Similar to Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (Novel), with inferior writing (and tl's English, but that'll be brushed up.may already be as I read this back in 2011 or something)
